Mike Kennedy is a long time fixture in the Philly jazz scene as a guitarist, as well as a composer/producer/arranger and teacher – and the guitar department chair at The University of The Arts right in Center City Philadelphia. You can find him at any number of monthly gigs at such places as Chris’ Jazz Cafe, and in addition to numerous appearances on other band leaders projects, he has two albums out in his own name. The first, 2002’s “Quartet No. 1“, features 10 songs of straight ahead bop and fluid playing, including the two tracks included below, “Teahouse” and the aptly named “Barrage”:

2006’s “Idle Afternoon” is another classic as well – give them both a listen and you’ll see for yourself…
